Israeli pianist Ariel Lanyi was born in 1997 and made his début at the age of seven. He studied at the Jerusalem Academy before moving to London, where he now studies at The Royal Academy of Music with Hamish Milne.

He has appeared as a soloist with the Israel Symphony Orchestra and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Last year he was awarded First Prize at the Dudley International Piano Competition. This year he played with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra and made a tour of Belgium.  He has taken part in masterclasses given by Thomas Adès, Mitsuko Uschida, Andras Schiff and Murray Perahia

Simon Rowland Jones writes: “I heard Ariel in February at an audition in London and was immediately drawn to his poetic, intelligent and mature interpretations of Haydn and Liszt, as well as by his immaculate and accomplished technique. I am delighted he is able to come to NNMF this summer.”
